The word Jewellery is derived from the word jewel, or in french 'jeoul' meaning a plaything. In british english the spelling is Jewelery and the american it spells jewelry. Jewellery is the shapely piece of metal which are made to adorn a woman. Jewellery is made from many kinds of metals. Ornaments have been found from Neolithic and Mesolithic era in the history. Archeologists have found wooden ornaments made for woman after digging the sites. Since then women need jewellery to make them beautiful. Now modern women need modern accessories to beautify them. Jewellery is worn on many occasions and married women in India are mandatory to wear all the jewellery, especially in Hindu tradition.

There is a business also of exporting them. The tiara or headdress of a fairy or a beauty paegant winner is also a classic jewellery trends in the modern times. Modern machines and techniques are taken into use to make them. Thus jewellery is very important to women of any status or caste and creed.
